Quick answer

What is a PUF sandwich panel?

A PUF sandwich panel is a rigid polyurethane foam core, typically 38–42 kg/m³, bonded between two coated steel skins. Continuous panels (30–150 mm) clad walls and roofs of warehouses and sheds; cam-lock panels (60–200 mm) lock together into cold rooms and freezers. PIR cores add better fire behaviour.

Two families

Continuous or cam-lock?

Both families come as wall and roof (ceiling) panels. Here is how they differ.

Continuous PUF / PIR

Made on a line, cut to length

Tongue & grooveScrew-fixed or hidden-fix
How it is made
Continuous lamination line: steel coils, foam and curing in one moving process
Joint
Tongue & groove; screw-fixed or hidden-fix
Typical thickness
30–150 mm
Length
Cut to length, up to ~12 m (transport-limited)
Wall and roof
Wall (flat or micro-rib) and roof (trapezoidal, 3–5 ribs)
Best for
Warehouses, factories, sheds, prefab, clean rooms, large cold stores
Install speed
Fast on a steel frame: long panels, few joints
Cam-lock PUF

Pressed in batches, locked with a key

Cam-lock hook + T&GLocked with a hex key
How it is made
Discontinuous (batch) press: each panel foamed in a mould, cam-lock hooks foamed into the edges
Joint
Cam-lock hooks + T&G profile, locked with a hex key
Typical thickness
60–200 mm
Length
Made to room height or span
Wall and roof
Wall and ceiling of the cold room
Best for
Cold rooms, freezers, ripening chambers, pharma cold stores

Recommended familyCam‑lock

A frameless, airtight box: walls and ceiling lock together with a hex key, and the room can be taken apart later. 80–150 mm typical.

Cam-lock wall panel Typical; varies by project and brand. We confirm it with your drawing.
Core materials

PUF, PIR, EPS or rockwool?

The core decides the insulation, the fire behaviour and the weight. All values are typical and vary by brand.

PUF≈0.02238–42Combustible (FR grades exist)Best insulation per mm; standard for cold rooms
PIR≈0.02240–45Better fire behaviour; charsInsurer-friendly; slightly higher cost
EPS≈0.035–0.03815–20CombustibleCheapest; ambient-temperature cabins
Rockwool≈0.040–0.04580–120Non-combustible coreFire walls; heavy; absorbs water if damaged
